This month’s feature film is Making Waves: The Rebirth of the Golden Rule. This documentary covers the history of the Golden Rule historic anti-nuclear peace boat from her first voyage in 1958 through restoration on the shores of Humboldt Bay from 2010 to 2015 and her current voyages.
The filmmaker, James ”Seamus” Knight of Caneyhead Productions, produced the film during the San Diego Fleet Week protest on October 14, 2017 in conjunction with Veterans For Peace, San Diego chapter.
This month’s surf film is Nervous Laughter, which recounts the history of Pe’ahi’s big wave and follows the tight-knit crew of Maui hellmen through the 2015-16 El Nino season, chronicling their fearless approach to mastering one of the most menacing waves on the planet.
Doors open at 6:30 pm / films start at 7 pm at the Arcata Theatre Lounge, 1036 G Street in Arcata. $3 suggested donation.
